The Cercado de Lima District locally known as Cercado de Lima because it represents the old part of the city, which used to be walled. It is the locatin of the main institutions of the country. It is connected to the Plaza de Armas through the commercial Jiron de la Union Street. It was inaugurated in 1921 to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the official declaration of independence. Throughout the years, it has become an important nightlife center, offering a variety of bars, pubs and discotheques.
It is one of the main green areas of the city. It is recommended that you visit it at night to truly appreciate the show put on by its huge water fountains, and performed in tandem to music and lights.
By the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century Barranco used to be one of the favorite beach resorts of the Lima locals. It presents an interesting traditional architecture and its bajada de baños (the access to the beaches from Barranco) is one of the most beautiful urban landscapes of the city. Barranco also offers an intense cultural and nightlife. You can find museums, bars, cafés, restaurants and nightclubs for all kinds of taste.
Se inauguro el 28 de Julio de 1896 durante el gobierno de Don Nicolás de Pierola, utilizaba un sistema de contrapeso mediante el uso de aguas filtradas de la playa. En 1907 se puso en marcha nuevamente y en 1927 se cerró por obsoleto.
Construido durante el gobierno del primer Alcalde de Barranco Don Enrique Monterroso, para unir las riberas de la calle Ayacucho y la Hermita. Fue parcialmente destruido en 1881 y Posteriormente reconstruido. El Nombre del Puente deriva de los innumerables romance que tuvieron y tienen como marco este pintoresco rincón Barranquito.

It is located in the last block of Larco Avenue, overlooking the ocean (mar, in Spanish), from where it derives its name. It is a commercial center with cinemas, restaurants, bars, shops and a viewpoint to watch the ships that arrive at the Callao Port. Also, the Sala del Museo de Oro (Gold Museum’s room) is located here showcasing pre-Columbian gold pieces as well as various other precious metal pieces.
They are a series of galleries offering handicrafts. You can find replicas of the pre-Hispanic pottery, jewelry and gold pieces, textiles, paintings, and much more. It is located on Petit Thouars Avenue.

This museum is housed in an 18th century mansion built over a 7th century pre-Columbian pyramid. It boasts one of the world's largest archeological collections, its highlight been erotic pottery collection. The best part is that visitors can walk through its storage areas to appreciate the pieces not included in the exhibition. Address: Av. Bolivar 1515 Pueblo Libre.
Its wide collection extends from pre-Columbian objects to colonial and republican documents. The building where it is located was the residence of the liberators Jose de San Martin and Simon Bolivar, and the provisional government headquarters during the war against Chile.
In the pre-Columbian age, Pachacamac was considered one of the places furthest from the centre of the world. This religious center was one of the most important oracles of the old world. The god, Pachacamac, is associated with the earth, and it was believed that he had the power to cause earthquakes. That is why he was a feared and powerful deity. Pachacamac is an archeological site located 40 Km south of Lima, in the Lurin district.
